What Diamond Open Access Means

Diamond Open Access removes financial barriers on both sides of scientific publishing. Authors are not required to pay to publish, and readers are not required to pay to access the published scientific record.

At SJORANM, this means:

  • no Article Processing Charges (APCs);
  • no submission fees;
  • no publication fees;
  • no reader subscription fees;
  • no paywall for published scientific content;
  • immediate Open Access upon publication.

The ability to publish scientific work should not depend on the financial resources of an author, institution, or country. SJORANM therefore regards Diamond Open Access as an important contribution to equitable scientific communication and international exchange.

Licensing & Author Rights

Articles published by SJORANM are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence (CC BY 4.0).

Under CC BY 4.0, published material may be shared, copied, redistributed, adapted, remixed, transformed, and built upon in any medium or format, including for commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author or authors, the source is acknowledged, a link to the licence is provided, and any changes are indicated.

Copyright remains with the authors. Authors grant SJORANM the right of first publication.

Discoverability & Long-Term Preservation

Open Access is most valuable when scientific content remains discoverable, citable, machine-readable, and persistently available.

SJORANM participates in established scholarly infrastructure for journal discovery, persistent identification, metadata dissemination, linked scholarly data, bibliographic identification, library discovery, and long-term digital preservation.

Published content is digitally preserved through Portico. Persistent identifiers and scholarly metadata support reliable citation and integration into the scientific record. Services such as DOAJ, OpenAlex, Wikidata, the ISSN Portal, the Electronic Journals Library (EZB), and the Zeitschriftendatenbank (ZDB) contribute to scientific discovery, bibliographic identification, library discovery, and integration into the scholarly information infrastructure.

Diamond Open Access & Editorial Independence

The absence of author publication charges does not alter the scientific standards applied to submitted manuscripts.

Editorial and peer review decisions are based on scientific, methodological, ethical, and clinical considerations and remain independent of funding, sponsorship, institutional relationships, partnerships, or other forms of financial support.

The journal's funding and sustainability framework is described separately to maintain transparency between financial support and scientific editorial decision-making.

Open by design.

SJORANM's Diamond Open Access model is designed to ensure that the ability to read scientific work does not depend on a subscription and that the ability to publish scientific work does not depend on an author's ability to pay.
